Michael "Blockie" Block WITB 2025 (15th May, 2025) - What's In The Bag? The PGA Championship 2025 @ Quail Hollow

Michael “Blockie” Block: 2025 Season Recap – The People’s Pro Strikes Again

You thought the Block Party was over? Think again.

Michael Block has returned in 2025 with more confidence, more memes, and more inexplicable interviews than ever before. He’s not just vibing on sponsor exemptions — he’s thriving on them. The man is now basically a walking Ted Lasso episode with a lob wedge.

He kicked off the year by making the cut at the Farmers — promptly asking the media room if anyone wanted to arm wrestle. At Pebble, he holed out from 112 yards with a wedge that looked like it had been used to stir paint. “That’s just feel, baby,” he grinned, then signed a kid’s forehead with a Sharpie.

Blockie’s 2025 season has been a glorious, chaotic mix of solid golf, sketchy course management, and content gold. He’s made three cuts in nine starts — not bad for a guy who’s technically still the head pro at Arroyo Trabuco (even if he hasn’t answered an email since 2023).

His interviews continue to blur the line between genius and performance art. After shooting 69 in the first round at the Texas Open, he claimed, “I blacked out after the 5th tee. The next thing I remember, I was petting a raccoon behind 12 green. But apparently, I made eagle.”

And yet — behind the bravado, Blockie has game. He’s still got the buttery tempo, the dead-hands short game, and just enough self-delusion to think he can beat anyone on the right day.

Is he a contender? Not really.

Is he a cult icon? Without question.

Long live the Block Party.

PGA Championship History: That One Week in 2023... and a Whole Lotta Vibes

Blockie’s PGA Championship career basically peaked instantly — and memorably — in 2023 at Oak Hill.

He wasn’t just the low club pro. He was the show.

He dunked it for an ace on 15 while playing with Rory. He shot even par for the week. He cried on CBS. He told Amanda Balionis he thought he could compete with the best in the world, and half of Golf Twitter exploded.

He finished T15, got into next year’s PGA, and went full Hollywood. The next six months were a whirlwind of tequila sponsorships, brand deals, and swinging like he was trying to kill a wasp midair.

In 2024, the magic cooled. He missed the cut at Valhalla and blamed the "vibes being off.” But in classic Block fashion, he claimed in a podcast that he’d “learned to breathe through his hamstrings” and would be back.

And now, here we are. Quail Hollow. A course that eats nervous pros for breakfast. Can Blockie recreate the 2023 magic?

Honestly, who cares?

As long as he fist-pumps a 12-footer for bogey and signs someone’s baby, we all win.

What’s In Blockie’s 2025 Bag – The People’s Arsenal

Driver: TaylorMade Stealth 2 9° – Fujikura Ventus Black 5X (2024)
Not quite the tour spec rocket launcher — but Blockie swings it like he’s trying to open a wormhole. The Ventus 5X is light and loose, much like his warm-up routine.

3 Wood: TaylorMade M5 Titanium 15° – Mitsubishi Diamana BB 83X
Vintage tech. This thing’s seen things. Sounds like a cannon. The BB 83X shaft is basically a steel rod with swagger.

5 Wood: TaylorMade M5 Titanium 19° – Mitsubishi Tensei CK Orange 70TX
If a club could growl, this one would. TX flex means “Tour Xtra,” which is also how Blockie signs his autographs now.

6 Wood: TaylorMade Qi10 Tour 21° – Tour AD Graphite Design DI-7X
Yes, Blockie bags a 6 wood. No, he’s not ashamed. It’s for those “just get it up and twirl the club” moments.

Utility: TaylorMade Stealth UDI (4) – Graphite Design Tour AD DI Hybrid 85X
When Blockie’s feeling dangerous (or bored), he nukes this UDI stinger 240 into a bunker and smiles like he meant to.

Irons: TaylorMade Tour Preferred (5–9) – True Temper Project X 6.5
These irons are older than some of his followers, but they still have plenty of sauce. The 6.5 shafts are just firm enough for the Block Fade™.

Wedges: TaylorMade Milled Grind 2 46° (SB09), TaylorMade MG 52° (SB09), MG 56°, MG4 60° (TW11) – True Temper Dynamic Gold Tour Issue Onyx S400
The man carries four wedges and they all look like they’ve been rescued from a garage sale. But somehow, he’ll spin a 56° from a sidewalk onto a dime.

Putter: Odyssey White Hot 2-Ball
Classic Block. No frills. Just vibes and soft inserts. Looks like a mini UFO and works like a charm under pressure.

Ball: TaylorMade TP5x
Blockie needs the firmer feel and extra distance — and yes, he claims he can absolutely feel the difference between this and the TP5 “just by sniffing it.”

Grips: Golf Pride MCC
Firm, classic, and a little abrasive — just like Blockie’s short game after three Coors Lights.

2025 PGA Championship at Quail Hollow: Can Blockie Bring the Chaos?

Let’s be real: Blockie isn’t supposed to be in contention this week. But that hasn’t stopped him before.

Quail Hollow is long, nasty, and built for ball-strikers. But it also rewards guys who can scramble like they’re avoiding child support. Enter: Michael Block.

If his driver behaves (big “if”), and he can keep the double-bogeys off the card, there’s a world in which he sneaks into the weekend. From there? Who knows.

Blockie doesn’t play by the normal rules of golf narrative. He exists in a weird alternate dimension where energy matters more than technique and where a club pro can high-five Rory after making an ace on national TV.

He’s still got the swagger. The swing still holds up under pressure. And he’s motivated. "This year,” he said, “I want to make the cut and get a chest tattoo of the Wanamaker.” Let’s hope he’s joking. (He’s not.)

Fans will be watching every shot. Not because he’s a favorite, but because every shot could go viral. And in 2025, that’s its own kind of leaderboard.

Realistically? A T49 finish and 73 highlight reels.

Emotionally? A T1 in our hearts.

So go ahead, Michael. Fire it at every flag. Sign some sneakers. Drop a wild quote. And keep the Block Party going — because golf needs weird, and Blockie is our beautiful, golf-obsessed chaos muppet.
