Dustin Johnson WITB 2025 (15th May, 2025) - What's In The Bag? The PGA Championship 2025 @ Quail Hollow

The Qi35 is TaylorMade’s spaceship driver, and DJ nukes it like he’s teeing off from the moon. The 6X Ventus is stiff enough to double as rebar.

Dustin Johnson: 2025 Season Recap – The Chillest Assassin in Golf

Dustin Johnson is still playing golf in 2025 the way your uncle drinks beer at a BBQ: casually, confidently, and with zero regard for traditional tempo.

He’s 40 now, but you wouldn’t know it unless you count the number of times he’s said “I’m just out here having fun” this year (14, by our count). DJ’s season started like most of his interviews — slow, mumbly, and ending with a shrug. But lately? There’s signs of life.

After a few quiet showings on LIV’s mini circus tour (which included a pro-am where he wore sandals), DJ suddenly remembered he’s one of the best to ever do it. He posted a solo third in Miami, then casually won the Saudi event by five, looking as bored as a cat during bath time. He hit 17 greens in the final round. Seventeen. And when asked how he did it, DJ said, “I dunno, just felt like it.”

Classic.

He’s playing less, partying more, and swinging like a relaxed gorilla with a grudge. And somehow, it still works.

In 2025, DJ’s entire vibe is: “I might win, or I might go fishing. Either way, I'm good.”

PGA Championship History: Close Calls and One Big W

Dustin Johnson’s PGA Championship story is part Greek tragedy, part redemption arc, part YouTube highlight reel with bad music.

His first big heartbreak came in 2010 at Whistling Straits — better known as “the Bunker Incident.” DJ grounded his club in a sandy area that wasn’t marked as a bunker and got penalized. He missed the playoff. Somewhere, a rules official is still in hiding.

Fast forward to 2015 at Whistling Straits again (seriously, this place is cursed for him), where he hit it everywhere except the fairway and finished T7.

But in 2020, DJ finally got his hands on the Wanamaker. He obliterated TPC Harding Park with his usual blend of power fades and detached coolness, winning by two and barely cracking a smile.

His other top finishes include a T2 in 2019, a T5 in 2018, and six top 10s total. DJ’s PGA record is basically “always the bridesmaid, sometimes the drunk groom.”

It’s a tournament that fits him perfectly: long courses, deep rough, and zero need to fake small talk with marshals. If he drives it well, he contends. If he doesn’t… well, there’s probably a boat nearby.

What’s In DJ’s 2025 Bag – The Ice-Cold Arsenal of a Golf Terminator

Driver: TaylorMade Qi35 10° – Fujikura Ventus Black 6X (2024) 🧊🚀
The Qi35 is TaylorMade’s spaceship driver, and DJ nukes it like he’s teeing off from the moon. The 6X Ventus is stiff enough to double as rebar.

3 Wood: TaylorMade Qi10 HL 16.5° – Fujikura Ventus Black 9X 🔥🪓
This is the Excalibur of fairway woods. High-launch head, with a shaft so stiff it could club a bear.

7 Wood: TaylorMade Stealth 21° – LA Golf Proto 📐🌲
Yes, DJ uses a 7 wood. Let that sink in. It launches high, lands soft, and makes him look like he’s hitting floaters with a sledgehammer.

9 Wood: TaylorMade Stealth 24° – LA Golf Proto 🧙‍♂️🎯
Because apparently, hybrids are for people who have feelings. The 9 wood completes his fairway air force and stops on a dime.

Irons: TaylorMade DJ Proto (5–PW) – True Temper Dynamic Gold Tour Issue X100 ⚒️🧨
Custom-built for the human launch monitor. These irons have zero offset, negative forgiveness, and infinite swagger.

Wedges: Cleveland RTZ Tour Rack Raw 50° (10M), 54° (10M), 58° (6L) – KBS Hi-Rev 120S Black 🐍💀
Raw wedges, raw spin. DJ barely practices chipping and still hits these like he’s got a cheat code.

Putter: L.A.B Golf OZ.1 – L.A.B Golf Press Pistol 2° 🛸🧠
Looks like something from Elon Musk’s garage. The L.A.B. tech squares itself — which is great, since DJ’s green-reading technique is “walk around and guess.”

Ball: TaylorMade TP5x 🏐💣
Firm, hot off the face, and explosive — just like DJ when his tee time’s delayed.

Grip: Golf Pride Tour Velvet ✋🎯
Standard, classic, unchanging — because DJ doesn’t mess with things that work. Or mess with anything, really.

2025 PGA Championship Preview – Can DJ Win Again at Quail Hollow?

If there’s a course made for DJ’s ice-veined chaos, it’s Quail Hollow.

It’s long. It’s firm. It rewards bombers and punishes anyone who flinches. Basically, it’s a grown-up playground for a guy who hits driver like he’s chopping trees in Yellowstone.

The key for DJ? The driver. If he finds fairways, he turns par 5s into pitch-and-putts and par 4s into wedges. Quail’s closing stretch — the Green Mile — is a monster. But DJ’s not scared. He might not even notice.

He’s been putting better with the L.A.B. OZ.1, and he’s rolling the TP5x like it owes him money. If he gets the speed of these bentgrass greens early, he’s a sneaky favorite.

Motivation’s always the question. But this week, there’s buzz. He’s downplaying it, sure, but insiders say he’s locked in — fewer sunglasses indoors, more range sessions, and almost a smile during his Tuesday presser.

Can he win?

Yes.

Will he care if he doesn’t?

Probably not.

But if DJ gets that look — the deadpan stare, the saunter, the slight head tilt before he smokes one 345 down the gut — it might be game over.

And if not? He’ll still cash a check, avoid eye contact, and disappear back to his beach house like a golf-playing Bigfoot.

Either way, DJ’s still cooler than your favorite player.
